Although it has been a few weeks since we released the new look and feel for Travel Generation I have yet to sort of declare it open season as we iron out a few bugs and have the super elite beta testers go to work on it. However, for most now they would have seen the massive overhaul we have done to the Travel Generation website and most obviously the blog and the home page.

The big news however, is the beta launch of the Travel Planning software and so far we have been rapt with the reviews. So, what is it and what is all the fuss?

Well I believe one of the biggest problem with travel planning websites is that they are only as good as their database of products. If you want to build an itinerary you are confined to the products that are on that website. In most cases, this means you can’t build an itinerary which has you staying in a nice hotel one night, a backpackers the next, travelling in a Spaceship rental car and interspersing your trip with a number of adventure activities. Using Travel Generation you can.

Travel Generation works off unique bookmarking technology. Quite simply as you traverse the Internet visiting various websites you can choose to save that webpage to your own Travel Generation travel planning space. By either clicking the “Save to TG” button in your bookmarks folder or toolbar or pasting the URL of the desired webpage into your Travel Planner the content that is on that page including any images, location data and descriptions are spidered by Travel Generation and saved to your travel planner.

From there you simply schedule the item to a travel plan (you can build multiple plans) and share that plan with friends and family so that they know what you are up to and can do.

Travel Generation is only in limited private beta at the moment which means you need to be invited to use it. For all our of readers on this blog however that invite is definitely open. Simply contact me and I will give you the details of how to register and become a user.
