Want to increase your social footprint – here is how to achieve saturation in 5 minutes: Google Reader; Flickr; You Tube; Friendfeed; Twitter and Delicious
- Facebook – your too late – your customers already did it for you
- Setup your own blog – hopefully you already have one
- Setup a Google reader and start monitoring lots of blogs about your area of interest. Share posts of interest and stylise your shared items page. Share the URL on your website, emails etc.
- Setup You Tube channel and add you own videos and start searching You Tube finding videos about your product and making them your favourites and friends. You can setup an RSS feed to monitor You Tube for your search terms in your Google reader: http://www.youtube.com/rss/tag/cairns+calypso.rss change the last two “tags” to whatever you want. Add this feed to the Google reader you set up and you can monitor it in one place. Share the items that you like and set them up to show on your Friendfeed and Twitter account .
- Setup Friendfeed and instantly set it up to read your shared Google items and your Your Tube RSS for your relevant tags – you can setup more. Friend feed aggregates 43 different sites – just poke around and see (one that you should setup is Delicious.com).
- Delicious.com is a bookmarking website – you should setup an account here and then when you search the Net and see good comments on sites like bugbitten and hostelworld, or pages relevant to you – bookmark them to delicious and then set this up to show on your Friendfeed and Twitter sites.
- Set Twitter up. Have a look at Twitterific for a desktop tweeter. You can find cool tools for sending your itunes to twitter, email, phone and so on. There is a site called twitterfeed which you can use to automatically update twitter with rss feeds (from your blog) and from You Tube, Flicker etc. Twitter can be setup that it virtually manages itself.
- Setup a flickr account and put up images and also setup RSS feeds from your account and from search terms – put the RSS feed through Google reader to look for relevancy. Share with Twitter and Friendfeed.
- Style friendfeed and twitter with your photos etc

Some great comments above and thanks for referencing our site in point 6 above. Another couple of tips that we could add that instead of just book marking your comments on Delicious from bugbitten.com, you could also use our free recommendation widgets to display these recommendations directly onto your travel website in less than 5 minutes. We even have a capture widget to allow businesses to capture recommendations from past customer on their own site too. Want more? Well our Facebook application allows your travellers to write recommendations about your activity, destination, hostel or tour business without leaving Facebook. If you are using our display widgets mentioned above then these will be automatically added to your website’s pages as well.
